Story
Wendall is the author of the amazing non-fiction book Confessions of Madness: My Journey with Mental Illness. It is a non-fiction account of her personal struggle with bipolar I disorder. The book explores topics ranging from medication management to the pain of stigma to the danger of suicide. Wendall writes about the power of a skilled psychiatrist in the treatment process and the real difference a good doctor can make in the quality of life of the patient. It is an eloquent, personal account of Wendall’s life written during the height of her illness, and how she learned to survive with grace and dignity. The book is beautifully illustrated with the author’s drawings.
Wendall is a Peer Recovery Council liaison to the board of NAMI Lowcountry.
