Dr. Brooke Dean

Dr. Brooke Dean joined the NAMI Lowcountry Board of Directors as an experienced Clinical Psychologist. Her passion for psychology and the human mind began during her academic career at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

My Story

​Brooke graduated with a B.S. degree in Psychology and Sociology. Her expertise in the psychological field continued at both Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi. At the end of her academic career, Dr. Dean received both a Masters degree and a Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology.

Prior to opening her private practice, Brooke worked in many inpatient and outpatient hospitals and clinics and has extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, and marital therapy.

​

Brooke’s hands-on work in the mental health field continues to provide a strategic and comprehensive approach to NAMI Lowcountry programmatic and educational initiatives. She has also been a driving force in generating strong community engagement and partnerships with mental health providers across the Lowcountry.

​

Brooke currently sits on the NAMI Lowcountry Board, Child Abuse Prevention Agency Board, South Carolina Governors School of Arts & Humanities Board and the Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Centers Board. She has recently been appointed as the Mental Health Advisor at Riverview Charter School.

​

Brooke lives in Beaufort with her husband, two daughters, son and three golden retrievers.
